This track come from recordings of Michael J. Kennedy (1900-1978) made by John McCutcheon on October 26, 1976 in Cincinnati, Ohio. These recordings resulted in the now long out of print LP, Michael J. Kennedy: 65 Years of Irish Music, issued in 1977 by June Appal Records. The small but avid audience heard whooping it up in the background consists of Grey Larsen, Malcolm Dalglish, John McCutcheon, and John Herrod.

Here Michael reminisces about his youth in Flaskagh, Co. Galway, before emigrating to the U.S. in 1923.
