We learned this ditty from Tom Byrne (1920 – 2001), a fine Co. Sligo flute player who emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio in the 1950s. Tom played this reel, a variant of The Collier’s Reel, after singing the song. Tom himself had been a collier (coalminer) back in Sligo.
